Here’s how new Barclays customers can get £300 for switching their bank account to Barclays, or £600 if they qualify for a Premier account
Barclays is back with two new switch offers – £300 for their bank account and £600 for their Premier account. But to get the full amount you need to do more than just switch.
Here’s what you need to know to get the cash.

How much can you get with the Barclays switch offer?
You can currently get up to £300 for switching to a Barclays current account. There is also a £600 offer for the Premier account.
What are the requirements for the Barclays switch offer?
First up, you must open up a brand new personal (not joint) current account with optional Blue Rewards account via the Barclays app.
There is also a requirement to switch over three active direct debits. Andy’s written about some easy and fast direct debits that you can set up if you’re short of these.
The switch must be from a different bank and needs to be completed via the Current Account Switch Service. This means your old account will be completely closed, though all your money and payments in and out will be transferred over for you. Here’s more on how to switch banks.
You also need to have added at least £2,000 to the current account within 30 days of opening the account.
That gets you £150.
To get the next £150 you need to at least 10 eligible debit card transactions a month for five months and continue paying at least £2,000 in salary each month. Each month you complete this gets you £30, adding up to £150 over five months.
How to get the Barclays Premier Account switch offer
There are three differences between the Premier Account switch offer and the standard Bank Account swich offer.
First, you need to pay in £5,000 within 30 days to qualify for the switching bonus.
Secondly, you get a £450 switching bonus, rather than a £150 one.
Thirdly, to get the ongoing monthly payments of £30 for five months, you’ll need to keep paying in £5,000 a month (rather than £2,000) as well as making 10 eligible debit card transactions a month.
Of course, you’ll also need to meet the qualifying criteria for opening a Premier Account – these include a gross annual income of at least £75,000 that is paid into your account, or for you to hold a minimum of £100,000 in savings or eligible investments with Barclays.
Can existing or previous Barclays customers get the switch bonus?
Any Barclays customer who had an open personal Barclays current account on 1 October 2026 can’t get the offer.
As long as you closed any previous current account with Barclays before this date, you can open up a new account now for the promotion.
However, you will be excluded if you’ve ever had switching cash from Barclays in the past.
If you have another product open with Barclays, such as a mortgage, savings or Barclaycard, you can get the offer.
You also won’t get the offer if you only qualify for a Barclay’s Basic Current Account.
When will you get the money?
Barclays says the £150 switching reward will come within the next 28 working days of you meeting the eligibility criteria. The £30 monthly bonuses will come afterwards, depending on you meeting the monthly criteria.
When does the offer end?
There’s no current end date given. Barclays said it starts on 1 October 2026 and runs “until the offer is withdrawn”. Barclays added that it might change, replace or with draw the offer “if circumstances beyond our control arise”.

Are the Blue Rewards any good?
You don’t need to choose the Blue Rewards option to get the switching bonus, but it could save you money in some cases.
The account costs £5 a month, but you get Apple TV included (worth £9.99 a month), cashback on some spending and a linked 3.96% AER instant-access savings account (the rate paid out on the first £5,000 saved only, after that it drops to 0.7% AER for any extra money put in there).
There are also entertainment perks – including reserved tickets to some events and upgrades to some tickets – but you’ll still need to pay for the ticket and want to got to the events they pick. There’s another saving account linked too – paying 2.51% AER, but only in months you don’t dip into your savings.
If you’re a fan of Apple TV, the account can save you money – especially if you regularly shop at the retailers signed up to Blue Rewards.
But in our opinion there are other reward current accounts that provide better perks if you’re happy to pay for an account.
